After we've caught our halibut limit, we will stop on our way in to target lingcod, time and weather permitting.

Trip length: 11 hours, unless limits are caught early.
Season: May 2017. Approx. 3-5 days. Until quota is met.

• Halibut Limit: 1 per person. Fillet fee:  $5 per limit.
• Lingcod Limit: 2 per person. Fillet fee:  $2 each fish.

* When the halibut quota is met prior to the end of directed halibut season, there is an "Incidental Halibut Rule."  This allows us to land halibut on Inside Waters.

FAQ about Salmon, Halibut & Bottom Fishing

 When you book your trip, you must provide a  deposit. You're encouraged to pay in full at least 7 days before your trip.
You must check in at our office prior to departure time - Either the day before, or the morning of, your trip.

Tipping & Fillet Fees.
Your deckhand(s) work for tips and fees. Fees are for work they are doing as a part of your request for them to fillet your catch. You're welcome to take your fish home 'in the round' and fillet them yourself.  Tips, as with a waitress or bartender, is to say 'job well done for keeping my bait coming, getting my fish on the deck, bleeding the fish, making sure the gear is in great working order before I even got on the boat." Deckhands do far more than you'll ever know, so tipping them is greatly appreciated.

Bring your gear or use ours?
We supply all tackle and a rod for your fishing trip.  You're always welcome to bring your own rods and tackle if you prefer. Your tackle must match ours in weight and test; otherwise everyone around you will become tangled. Below, we provide a breakdown of each fishery and what you should use.

GEAR TO USE

BOTTOM FISHING
Lingcod

• We recommend a 7' to 8' mooching rod and a reel spooled with 20- to 30-lb test mono-filament line. (No braided line, please.)
• You will need a dozen or so mooching sinkers 4-, 5- or 6-oz. We fish on jagged rocks and more than likely, you'll get stuck.
• We also recommend 3/0- 4/0 solid tie salmon mooching leaders in #30 test solid tie. Sinkers and leaders are available at the office for sale.

Rockfish

• We recommend just renting our gear; but, if you must use yours, it's important to keep things uniform.
• We use light tackle for rock fish.
• Bait varies, when live bait is available we use that; otherwise, we use grubs or fish traps also small iron jigs like a 2-oz point defiance dart.
• Lingcod can also be caught on 4" to 7" swim bait while fishing for rock fish. We have a good selection of these at our office for sale.
• You will need four 12-oz banana sinkers and a #40 mooching leader with 4/0 – 5/0 hooks.
• If, you are renting our rods, this will be supplied for you.

SALMON

• No braided line on salmon gear.
• We recommend a 7' to 8' mooching rod and a reel spooled with 20- to 30-lb test mono-filament line.
• A few each of mooching sinkers 4- , 5-, or 6-oz
• We recommend 3/0- 4/0 solid tie salmon mooching leaders in #30 test solid tie.
• Sinkers and leaders are available for purchase at the office.
